Cantin

Yeah~~ Hooray~ I have completed 1 lunch project.
Sound like hard? I would say yes, because you have to visit to the same shop to taste different things, then you only can complete a foods blog post.

Most of the people will think that working at shopping mall area is awesome, cause you can have plenty of lunch choice. But I tell you that it's not that awesome. Because:

  1. Would you spend about 30-50 bucks for a lunch meal by daily?
  2. When you crave for Char Keow Tuey/ Chicken Rice/ Roast Pork Rice/ Pan Mee/ Yee Mee and etc, you will find that you're paying something that's not worth for that price. Especially chicken rice.

I think about 2 reasons are much more enough to say that is not awesome for working in the shopping mall area.

Back to the topic, today introduces another local delight in Mid Valley. New faces as well. Locate at south court, 3rd floor. It calls CantinThe name is a play the word canteen. See how creative of this owner.

The wall full of can and tin. So call Cantin. LMAO~~

The table arrangement concept is just like a canteen.

They transform a can into fork & spoon holder.

They serve variety of local delights like hainam chicken chop, curry mee, nasi lemak, toast. Let's see the menu.

I have been there couples of times, in order for me to update my blog, I try different food during my visit. Let's check out the food porn now.

Most common Malaysian food - Nasi Lemak. The sambal is sweet type and not really spicy, is suitable for me. It's served with mini anchovy and peanut, but i felt the rice like not enough of coconut milk, if can add a little bit more will be perfect. MYR6.90

Curry Chee Cheong Fun, not the best one in Mid Valley. Curry gravy is like mamak store that type no coconut milk taste in the curry gravy. MYR6.90

Hainam Chicken Chop is their signature. But I haven't tried yet, this photo taken while my colleagues order. Comment from my colleague is the chicken was ready for served for quite a long time, cause it's cold, only the tomato gravy is hot. MYR13.90

Fish ball noodles. It's surprisingly taste ok. We thought it will be tasteless.

If you are looking for an affordable price and cozy surrounding for your lunch time then this may suit you.

Updated - 16/05/2015

Cantin has changed new menu.

More variety included in this exercise book. From Asian to Western. They have added Spaghetti, steak, more rice selection.

Tried new menu - Butter Chicken Rice, MYR10.90, good choice of wet butter instead of dry butter. If the chicken can be boneless will be good.

This is actually in old menu, but i just try it recently. The sauce is ok, but the CCF texture is not good as previous and the beadcurd was not really fresh. MYR6.90

Low Maji Steamboat 老媽子冬瓜盅火鍋

Is yummilicious time again. We gave a try on this interesting steamboat on two weeks ago. It's suggested by Wong and we have no idea of our dinner on that day, so we joined them for dinner. Low Maji are from Cantonese and it's mean Mom. When we arrived is the most common dinner time - 8PM, the restaurant is full, we have to Q up and wait for an empty table.  After half an hour wait, finally we got the table. Luckily, there is a family not managed to wait so we got the table faster. The waitress passes the menu to us. The menu is simple and clear. You either choose a set or ala carte. Got this clear version on my second visit. The price for ala carte add on for steamboat is  from   MYR1.50 onwards.  I felt the price are reasonable price.
